Two days to go . . . . .

So . . .  it's here at last!  I have been planning this trip to Japan for sooo long now and finally it's here!  Yes, it's a couple of months later than originally planned due to the horrific events of March 11th (and no - I'm not talking about my 40th birthday!!), but thankfully, Tokyo is now up and running and everyone has been fantastic about our changing plans (such a pleasure to deal with Japanese hotels who have changed our reservations without question or charge and also the Apartment reservation that Ayako san changed so easily - thank you!).  None of our plans have changed, the only thing we won't see is the Cherry Blossoms - which was the main reason for going in March - but I'm sure we can see them next time!!!!!

So here we are - planning a trip of a lifetime and getting very excited . . . . . .

I HATE Packing
Even though we have been planning this trip forever, I've still managed to leave the packing right up to the last minute!  We leave early Sunday morning and it's now 8:00pm on Friday night and not one stitch of clothing has been packed!  Well - I'll have all day tomorrow to worry about that.

So, been through my check-list and I have all the essentials:-

  • Flights booked
  • Fantastic Apartment booked (can't wait to meet Ayako san)
  • JR Passes booked (special train passes for tourists that saves them a bunch of cash - sweet!)
  • Suica passes bought (subway passes)
  • Yen safely stored in my purse (thanks to everyone for birthday contributions of Yen for both me and Scott . . . . much appreciated)
  • Studio Ghibli tickets booked (Totoro here I come!)  Google Totoro and Studio Ghibli if you don't know who they are . . .  love him!
  • Books, books and more books bought . . . . and I have more maps than you can shake a stick at (have you SEEN the Tokyo Subway map . . . . Scott is going to have soooo much fun getting me around!)
  • Weather checked - going to be lush!
So, think it's all there . . .  all I need to do now is put them in a suitcase with some clothes!  Hmmm . . .  let's do that tomorrow eh???

  1. Hi Nicola, it's Sara from The Piggly-Wiggly Travels. I think it is awesome you got an apartment- what a good idea. Can I ask where you found this apartment? Something to look into for our next Japan trip!

  2. Hi Sara
Thank you for all your lovely comments about our blog. We had soo much fun in Japan and can't wait to go back. We got the apartment from a web site called

    http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rentals/japan/r1109

We would absolutely consider using the same apartment next time - Ayako was just lovely and the apartment was perfect for us.

It's been nice to talk to someone who is as passionate about Japan as I am! Hope you get another trip out there soon x
